Replay the Series!
REPLAY was created by
Gatorade to stage re-matches of classic games between some of the
nation's biggest sports rivalries giving former teammates the chance to
re-unite, regain fitness and receive the same benefits professional
athletes receive through nutrition, training and conditioning counsel
from sports science and coaching experts, including the Australian
Institute of Sport.
The players participate in a specially created 10-week program and then take part in the official REPLAY game so they can settle their score. Replay are having a re-match of the 1991 Grand Final between Warrnambool teams Old Collegians and Merrivale on 28 August at Reid Oval - the original home of the Grand Final.
Merrivale won the 1991 Grand Final against then favourites Old Collegians, which Australian Comedian Dave Hughes plays for. The Merrivale Tigers have been premiers in 1958, 1979, 1991, 1996, 2003, and 2006. Old Collegian Warriors have been just as successful with premierships in 1956, 1964, 1965, 1969, 1970, 1984, 1989, and 1992.
